Just read this news fr a AC website, here is the extract:

AC’s Street Children rounded up (for now)

January 19

07:57

2015

Many Angeles City residents and visitors have long been complaining about the hordes of street kids that beg, steal and generally hassle those walking on Perimeter Road, Checkpoint area, Fields Avenue and MacArthur Highway. So this report that authorities have rescued some 50 children from the streets of an entertainment district in Barangay Balibago will be welcome.

Balibago chairman Rodelio “Tony” Mamac said the kids are reportedly being used by crime syndicates on robbery, mendicancy, drugs, and other illegal activities.

The rescue operations was jointly conducted by Bantay Bayan members, purok leaders, policemen, social workers, and other volunteers, according to Mamac.

“The operation resulted to the rescue of more or less 50 children in conflict with law like rugby boys, pickpockets, snatchers, and mendicants along MacArthur Highway, Fields Avenue, Marlim Mansions Avenue, and other places in Balibago,” Mamac said.

Barangay scholars volunteered to prepare food (rice porridge) for the rescued children.

Mamac said they will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

“We hope that they will never come back to the streets,” Mamac said

Many ACV’s readers will echo that wish of Mamac although we fear little will change and that this will be a cosmetic expedience for the upcoming APEC meeting.

Any bros in AC now wud like to comment on this matter since it is so quiet here for a while. :)

Much better now walking along Perimeter and Fields. About 80% less beggars and street kids. Balance of kids are less aggressive now.

Wonder how long they be gone but they Will return.

Lucky Plaza remittance is at 33.10 today :)

madmaster I was going to say the street kids will be back in the street, as per PH Law, DSWD can't hold the kids unless some NGO rescues them from the DSWD holding area

And 9 out of 10 times, the kids get rescued by their guardians and let lose back on the streets .. Reality !!!
