It is top choice also for me for two more reasons:
- Best compromise between quality, service and cost. Unbeatable.
- 99% guests are from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. No drunk Australian bule hanging around (I am not one of them)
4) estasy? I suggest no to that. If you get too lousy looking the next day, come back to Singapore, the customs may book u for urine test.
And you burn your brain.
7) VOA is applicable in all ports. But where u from? There is a list of countries for VOA.
I had a surprise! Since July, some countries previously subject to VOA are now exempted. I did not pay the $15 USD. Just a stamp on passport and welcome to Batam as for Singaporeans (up to 30 days for tourism, not business).
9) You can always book the return 1 hour before... But I suggest you do it earlier if you are returning on sundays.. Super pack, in the later part of day.

That was my biggest mistake on my first visit to Batam 6 years ago. I did not book in advance and I wanted to get a ferry on Sunday afternoon, with a flight from Changi around midnight. Poor me! All ferries fully booked.
I was extremely lucky: the girls at the desk in HB found me a seat after someone cancelled the reservation or did not show up. I did not miss my flight. I kept my promise and I ordered 1 fruit juice for each girl at the office as a token of appreciation for finding me a seat.
