-- Spokesperson for the Vietnam Foreign Ministry Le Hai Binh asserted on Tuesday that Vietnam strongly opposes Taiwan’s deployment of a drill in Ba Binh Island as part of Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago on Monday, as the illegal act is outrageous infringement on Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty over the archipelago.

-- Delegates at a workshop held on Tuesday by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport urged that aging trees be replaced in an attempt to cope with a rising number of serious or deadly accidents caused by fallen trees over recent times.

-- A fishing boat with eight crewmen on board was rammed by a Chinese vessel early Tuesday when it was around 20 nautical miles from Bach Long Vy Island off the northern city of Hai Phong, according to the National Committee for Search and Rescue Office. Three deck hands were knocked overboard, with one remaining missing.

-- The import - export management department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has selected Vietnam’s top dairy producer Vinamilk as one of the firms to join the self-certificate of origin program, which is adopted among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries to help businesses declare the origin of their export shipments on their own.

-- The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Tuesday that A92 gasoline, the most popular petrol in Vietnam, will be replaced with E5 biofuel altogether by mid 2017, but has yet to pinpoint the exact time of replacement.
