Huh, why are you surprised? Don't you know getting that branded bag is exactly one of the main reasons why they come here to work and earn money.
We live in an age where image and social standing are a huge part of people's lives. And it may differ slightly from society to society.
Some require a good job to be respectable. Some may need many followers on their IG to be somebody. Some must live in a condo or have the right car to impress. And some want the branded bags to be seen as successful.
Loathe it or love it, social currency, be it the right job or wearing a luxe brand, exists. And it's mostly a must have for anyone.
