Fruits are quite normal gift to bring for your gf's family. But it will depend on how much she means to you. if she could be your future wife, then buy some liquor and 555 for her dad and bros. As for her mum, if not sure what to buy, 200,000 VND will look good

Where to go? lots of places. Depending on what is your interest. If need decent places to go, go to Cu Chi tunnels and maybe go mekong delta for day tour.
where to stay best at HCMC (ger friendly)- personally i always like to stay at Pam Ngu Lao St, those backpacker district, the room is big clean and cheaper and that area is more crowed with more things to look see look see. If you interested, then just ask taxi to send u there, you will find alot of backpacker around there. If not then dig back to my old posting at another thread which I have stated the address before
I beg to differ. Pham Ngu lao is such a complicated place. better to stay elsewhere. i personally prefer Bui Thi Xuan. U can get nice rooms at cheap rates. If u really sibei poor till u need rooms that cost US$8 a night, then Pham Ngu lao may offer some suggestions.
