I always take the morning bus and arrive in the evening around 5-6pm for Da Lat. You get to see more hilly countryside(rubber, cashew plantations in Dong Nai and tea plantation in Lam Dong; especially around Bao Loc area)as the bus goes uphill. I almost never book in advance for hotel. Google for a few names or stay at the hotel where the Sinh Cafe bus stopped. If you don't like the hotel, change to a new one next morning.

I only take the night train from HCMC to Nha Trang. It arrived in the morning,
just in time for ca phe sua da and bun bo Hue breakfast.

Travelling such long hours must be damn tiring...definitely no fun at all...
