That probably won't do us too much good, given how the Chinese dislike the Japanese. Can't see the Chinese wearing a jersey with a Japanese name on it. The other problem with targetting the Japanese market is timezone. Imagine a 11pm match in Singapore, it will probably be 2-3 hours later in Japan. From late night to middle of the night, the audience size will drop.
Will make more financial sense to sign Chinese. Even with the pirated jerseys, the value of the TV advertisement space before, in-between and after the match would be worth a lot. Imagine getting hundreds of million of people just from China to watch our match. The problem is from 1 billion people, we can't even find 1 player who is good enough to play in our squad. We should probably target the Chinese market now by starting football schools in major cities. If their national team players are trained from young in a Liverpool-linked academy, it will look good for us too.
