I think its more advisable to start pre-booking your hotel rooms NOW. I was there 2 weeks back and intended to book my regular hotel for CNY period. Its just a $35 per night hotel and even then, I am on Reservation waiting list. Although, admittedly its the first day of CNY that I'm trying to book for.
