I resent the statement that Singaporeans are not traditional enough and we are losing aspects of our traditional culture. Every culture retains certain aspects of their culture and do not keep other aspects. Culture is not static. To each his own. If suttee, the sacrifice of Hindu wives on their deceased Indian husbands' funeral pyres was practised in India; it does not mean that it should be practised by Hindus in Singapore.
