Yes and agreed. Good and bad, most important is your individual luck and the chemistry with the gal you picked. No wrong no right. These "Kan Cheong Spiders" are mostly new to the scene or they just like to pick expensive ornamental goods.
Some gals I know, are really into going out to spend the night with their respective customer because they are there to make as much money as possible. Whereas some are only there to make you their port of call and after about 2-3 hours, they will try to make you issue the port clearance certificate so that they can fly/sail to another port. These gals, generally have a boy friend or a small wolf dog. Either these 2 reasons, they simple do not like to get screwed twice every night by a different stranger.

Yes, Crown Prince, if I remember correctly, had this modus operandi many years ago, something like 4-5 years ago. Again, IIRC, YH started the catwalk in this February, just after the CNY.

Dude,,,,Sorry to comment. You have friends with you, Why would you want a total stranger or a few total strangers to join your party? Worst case scenario, you guys might not get along and may start a brawl. If you are unsure about things going on and to be done in the KTV scene in CP, why don't engage an agent. I believe, the agents will not charge you, just tell they what you and your friends' requirement and they will prepare/make/complete/plan your request.
Most, if not all agents will arrange:
A) Accommodation & Airport Transfers
B) Babes, Barbie & Brothel
C) Cars, Condoms & Connection
D) Doctors and Dentist (If necessary)
E) Ecstasy (Note! Not the drugs)
F) Food
Caveat: Me no agent, just a nothing-to-do guy.
