Affirmative, Direct Ferry Transfer to & from HKIA not applicable for budget airlines as they didnt sign any pact for such services. Only applicable for normal airlines. However, I recall for CX & China airlines (please check on latest participant airlines as it changes from time to time), u can check your baggage all the way to your last destination. Previously, possible for SQ but it have also been dropped from the list.

Not necessary as most often, its rather difficult to align your flight arrival with the next available ferry departure timing & u also have to include the traveling time to ferry terminal. Hence, u may end up with an hour walking around waiting for the next ferry. Especially if u have check in baggage, u need to check in at least an hour before departure; for hand luggage, u need half an hour. For HKIA to CA, not a bad option but to CP, doubtful as it may be too much a hasssle, & not to forget for typhoons or bad weather months, best to avoid. u better dun take as u will probably complain
