HE couldn't believe his bad luck.
In just two months, the unit - a massage parlour - which Mr Kwow Ah Roke sublets at 14A Chun Tin Road, off Upper Bukit Timah Road, was vandalised twice.


Sequence shots from a closed circuit TV camera allegedly show a suspect throwing paint at the door.
A person who sublets, rents out the space that he or she has already rented.

Mr Kwow collects rent every month from the massage parlour owner and in turn pays rent to the owner of the unit.

On Wednesday afternoon, when Mr Kwow, 68, visited the massage parlour, the metal gate and signboards were splashed with black paint.

Mr Kwow said: 'I was angry. I was thinking who could have done this?'

He was tipped off on the vandalism by a cleaner, who works at a KTV pub next door, that morning.


He said he found out from the cleaner that at about 1am that day, three men were loitering suspiciously outside the unit.

CCTV footage taken from the pub seemed to support this.

Lianhe Wanbao which viewed the footage reported yesterday that it showed a tall, thin man dressed in a white shirt, black jacket and black pants at 2.07am near the massage parlour.

The report said the man carried a can of paint.

He looked around suspiciously for about 10 seconds and then threw the paint at the parlour's door before running off.

Mr Kwow said the first incident happened last month.


Then, the shop's gate was locked with a chain and there was some paint thrown on the door.

He said he didn't report the incident to the police as he felt it wasn't so serious.

He made a report this time.

Mr Kwow said: 'This time it seemed a lot more serious because there was so much more paint. So I decided to report to the police.'

Meanwhile, it is unclear who owns the massage parlour.

The New Paper spoke to a China national who only wanted to be known as Ms Liu.


The door of the unit was splattered with black paint.
She said she was only looking after the shop for a female friend who was in China when the incident happened.

She said: 'I'm just here to help my friend with the business. So I was very surprised when this happened.'

She declined to speak further on the matter.

Mr Kwow said that the shop has since been closed.

He is offering a reward of $5,000 for information on the culprit.

Police have confirmed that they are looking into the matter and have made arrangements to view the CCTV footage.
