Slower train service on North-South Line on Tuesday morning due to track fault
A track fault reportedly occurred near Choa Chu Kang MRT station on the North-South Line. Published 27 min ago Lee Min Kok SINGAPORE - Train service on the North-South Line was affected by a track fault early Tuesday (Aug 30) morning, with SMRT warning commuters to expect slower trains. SMRT first tweeted about the track fault at 6.08am, announcing that there was no service from Yew Tee to Bukit Gombak MRT stations. It added that free regular bus services had been activated. The fault was cleared at around 6.23am but SMRT said trains were moving at a slower speed between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak stations. The rail operator's latest update at 7.22am said to expect slower train service. On social media, commuters said the track fault had occurred near Choa Chu Kang station. Several complained of crowded platforms and long queues at some stations. continue reading here : http://www.straitstimes.com/singapor...to-track-fault I think the CEO of SMRT and the entire management team of SMRT should just resign

SMRT investigating track fault behind North-South Line train delays
By Kenneth Cheng Published: 12:57 PM, August 30, 2016 SINGAPORE – A track fault caused delays of up to 20 minutes on the North-South Line during morning rush hour on Tuesday (Aug 30). Train service was slower for three hours, and normal service resumed at 9.10am. SMRT is investigating the fault, which was traced to trackside signalling equipment near Choa Chu Kang. It first tweeted that the fault had crippled train services from the Yew Tee to Bukit Gombak stations at 6.08am, and announced free regular bus services. Although train service resumed 15 minutes later, trains had to be driven manually at 18kmh, down from the usual 60 to 80kmh, through the affected stretch for the safety of commuters, said Mr Patrick Nathan, SMRT's vice-president of corporate information and communications. That resulted in slower journeys for commuters, causing congestion in trains and stations, adding up to 20 minutes more travelling time between Woodlands and Jurong East stations. Free regular bus services were extended to affected train commuters during the three-hour service disruption. continue reading here : http://www.todayonline.com/singapore...e-train-delays

Signalling fault slows down service on Circle Line for 3rd day
Posted 31 Aug 2016 08:48 Updated 31 Aug 2016 09:10 SINGAPORE: Commuters along the Circle Line continued to face delays on Wednesday (Aug 31), two days after SMRT said train services were affected by "intermittent signalling issues". At 6.47am on Wednesday, the signalling issues were still ongoing, according to a tweet from SMRT. The transport operator said commuters should expect an additional three to five minutes of travelling time. In another tweet posted at 8.40am, it revised the additional travelling time to 10 minutes. The signalling fault caused crowds to swell at Circle Line stations on Monday as train services were delayed. Operator SMRT had said the issues would likely cause delays of about one to two minutes during non-peak hours and five to 10 minutes during peak hours, until the end of service on Monday. During the evening rush hour on Tuesday, SMRT informed commuters via Twitter to expect delays of between five and 10 minutes. continue reading here : http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...s/3087462.html When will SMRT give a reliable the commuters a reliable service ? ![]()
