Very informative.

Very true, and I see some of the traits in Indo woman too. I mean the rural areas.

Re: Must Read For Thai Cheongsters

only a very small percentage actually wake up & walk out of that scene, but still very much the lazy type. she either chalked up enough mega savings to serve her life out as pension when she passes her prime....... or, she finds a big fish to leech off him for as long as his lust lasts. (in other words, she will try her level best to offer the big fish platonic sex, so good, so irresistable that he has to return for more)

the majority of them sink to the bottom like anvils, for few common reasons:
1. gambling habits & debts
2. never ending liabilities - finances, loans, installments etc
3. getting involved w/ gigolo(s)

the vast majority of them know nothing about financial management, and have a very bad problem of covetting others. typically, if a fren owns a car, she must be on par, or own a bigger one. if a fren lives in an apartment, she must be on par, or live in a bigger one. nothing wrong about aspiring to do better than others, but if they're not pragmatic nor prudent, they'd probably never gonna snap out of it. i tell them เห็นช้างขี้อย่าขี้ตามช้าง

those single moms, do we really believe that they're really good mothers? many of them anchor their hopes on their kids. they slog it out getting f*cked for a living, bring home the bacon, put the kid thru education, and hope that the kids will sustain their retirement. sad to say, at the rate that inflation snowballs, the kid may in turn resort to doing the same thing, to finance their livelihood.

Re: Must Read For Thai Cheongsters

Thanks Sir Dennis for the very insightful link. Bro Suteerak1009's comment on "financial management & never ending liabilities" is something that I can relate to.

A few months ago I casually mentioned about buying a car. Thats when I found out that a Honda Civic was THE car to be seen in. Told her rather expensive, told me a Jazz was an acceptable alternative. She then said she wanted a car because it would be safer since she comes back so late at night. 555... my father not millionaire and my KT never kanna until so deep. So told her "see how". "Then I go buy myself" she said with some disappointment. "Err... havn't u forgotten why u working in a go-go in the first place?" Ok thought end of topic.

Few days later we walked passed a car promo at a shopping mall. I took a brochure just to compare prices in Spore and Thailand. Back in her apartment she was eagerly pouring over the details of my already discarded brochure. "WTF man! She isn't really contemplating getting a car is she?"

Had same conversation again... groan! "She can't be that stupid right?" Smitten with her so felt she was being naive & cute. 555.... how wrong I was! Came back a month later she proudly shows me her new motorcycle!

"Woah baby! How much it costs yah?"
"Bht50,000" she grins.
"How did u pay for it?" I was wondering how she got a bank loan since her employer doesn't exactly give out pay slips.
"Borrowed. Must pay within 3 months"
Later I found out it was from a dodgy character that hangs around the go-go she works. Guessing it was her friendly neighborhood ah-long.

Didn't take a genius to figure out that she needs to bang at least one more guy every night just to pay off her loan. True enough she was thrown out of her apartment the next month because she couldn't pay the rent.

*Sigh* guess they will never learn....

PHRAE (Nothern Thailand)

The province of Phrae may be somewhat off the beaten track, but its undiscovered treasures are well worth noting is the annual Rocket Festival, which marks the beginning of the ricegrowing season in May.

Phrae is quite a prosperous province due to lucrative coal mining and, until recently, logging businesses. The town is popular as a manufacturing centre for rattan furniture and the indigodyed farmers' shirts which are worn all over Thailand as a symbol of solidarity with rural Thai life.

One of the attractions of Phrae is its eclectic blend of temple architecture. Traditional Lanna architecture, with its multi-tiered roofs, is seen side by side with examples of Burmese and Lao temple architecture.

The North is the birthplace of the earliest Thai civilisation and has many sites of archaeological and cultural interest. Northern people are famous for their courtesy and hospitality, and the region is also noted for its variety of cultural traditions. Many tourists from the surrounding provinces converge on Chiang Mai for the annual Songkran Festival, and to Sukhothai for Loi Krathong.

The North falls into two distinct areas, the plains of the lower north from Nakhon Sawan to Sukhothai, and the mountainous upper north leading to borders of Myanmar and Laos. The mountain ranges along the borders are breathtaking, with waterfalls and fast-flowing rivers ideal for rafting. They are also the home of many ethnic hill people.

The region has three seasons, hot from March to May, wet from June to November and cool from December to February. High up in the mountains, though,“cool” may often mean extremely cold.

The 17 provinces that comprise the North are Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Lampang, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son, Nakhon Sawan, Nan, Phayao, Phetchabun, Phichit, Uthai Thani, Phitsanulok, Phrae, Sukhothai, and Uttaradit.

Dispelling Myths on Thai and Thai Girls - My Take

Here's my own personal (in some instances will be grossly inaccurate, but which is all done half tongue-in-cheek and in no way meant to stir controversy or incite intellectual violence!) take on some very popular myths on Thai females in general, and my attempt to dispel them based my admittedly very limited experiences with women in Thailand, which might or might not help local men bridge that gap maybe just a little more. At the end of the day, it's one man's opinion - feel free to dismiss my comments at any time.

1. Thai women, and Thais in general, love farangs or anything non-Thai

Couldn't have been more false. Yes, farangs have their own niche (like like ang mos have their own SPG market in Singapore) and in general they are viewed of as a more "desired" race group, but it's only because of their perceived social status and the fact that the average farang in Thailand is more well-to-do than the average Thai man. That's all there is to it. Everything else being equal (looks, height, social status, age, earning power et al), a Thai woman will almost always choose a local Thai man. There're enough handsome, rugged-looking hi-so men in Thailand to go around. Just because you're not from Thailand (ie typical snobbish Singaporeans staying in HDB flats but who immediately behave like kings as soon as they step foot in Suvarnabhumi) doesn't mean you're automatically "upgraded". Thais are respectful towards foreigners (of all races, not only farangs), generally friendly and love the fact that there are many people from many different parts of the world visiting their country, but that doesn't mean they feel inferior. Respect their culture, religion, social practices and you will go a long way. Behaving like you're God's gift to women or demanding that discount from a roadside clothes shop just because you're a foreigner reeks of arrogant disgust. We should be the ones embarassed that we're not respectful enough to learn or speak their language before we visit their country, not the other way around.

2. Thai girls are ALL money-launderers

Another piece of rubbish. Sure you've read plenty of farang-related stories on the internet of romance scams, but in reality only the dumbest of the lot get cheated. Thai girls get stereotyped to death on the internet and most of it just aren't true. The tell-tale signs are often common-sense application and nothing more. If you met an issan gogo girl in a bar who starts saying "I love you" after a couple of days, would the average intellectual be delusional enough to believe that shit? Truth is, most Thai girls are jai dee and honest. Sure there's the theory that Thais tell too many white lies, and it is indeed ingrained as part of their culture to "pai pen rai" everything away or simply avoid a sticky situation by telling half-truths, but again it won't take a genius to figure out if they're lying or telling the truth in the first place. Thais aren't very good liars - just use your instinct and go from there. And before anyone starts to accuse anyone of being two-faced, look at our own locals for a change - they probably lie more, and more nonchalantly, then Thais themselves, and the scariest part is, they're very, very good at it. Thais girls are honest and direct - if they need money, they'll ask it from you. No bullshit, no sexual politics, no threats, no hints (read: Singapore girls). It should be the same from your end - if you can afford it, say yes. If you can't, say no. Singapore girls tend to remember that failed attempt to get you to buy that LV bag for her for life - Thai girls just move on. Which species is freakier?

3. Thai girls are easy and desperate to sleep with you

Well.. it depends on how you look at this one. While they're extremely friendly and wouldn't hesitate to exchange numbers with you in a club, it's simply their way of interacting socially with people. It's the same everywhere else - Europe, the states, even developed cities in Asia. In Singapore, though, it's a totally different ball game. Getting a number here is like squeezing droplets of water from a stone, and we've been so indoctrinated with this extremely conservative nature of our own social fabric that we begin to exaggerate foreign experiences. I've heard people say (even in this forum) that "I've had one-night stands with 3 different Thai girls on 3 different nights, for free!" While I'm not disputing that it's theoretically impossible, these should be exceptions rather than the rule. Thai women, especially those born and bred in the city, are friendly, intellectual, articulate, and extremely hot to boot. Like I've mentioned before, there is an abundance of hot Thai men in the country to go around. Do you really think by taking a 2-hour flight you've suddenly become Don Juan by default? Many, many Bangkok night-scene blogs, created and maintained by farangs (The Farang Speaks 2 Much, Werewolf's Lair), where they document a typical night in Bangkok to entail drinking, hooking up, fucking then dumping are, for the most part, updated tongue-in-cheek and is by no means an accurate gauge of a "typical life in Bangkok". Thai girls are friendly, and it's probably going to be easier to get them to remove their panties for you (vis-a-vis local ones, but who's comparing when Singapore girls don metal-suited underwear, bolt the openings up with padlocks and throw away the key) but it doesn't mean that they're always walking around looking to get fucked. It just means that they're more real - girls need sex as much as guys, but they choose their mate as much as guys do.

4. A relationship between a Thai WL and a customer will never have a happy ending

This one just dispels itself, really, when you read, over the years, the numerous success stories that has come out, not only from this forum, but from elsewhere both online and off. WL or not, every girl, let alone relationship, is different. WLs are women too, and nobody wants to do what they do for life. If they find a good man and fall in love, why the hell not? What's up to us to figure out is easy - open your eyes, jump into it, and don't look back. If you lose your float, you can still swim back to shore and try again. The important thing is that you never regretted simply standing by the pier with your balls out in the cold shivering in fear.

5. Thais are inferior to Singaporeans in the social ladder and one should never settle for a "lesser-like" nationality

I'm only including this because I've been getting so much unnecessary stick, from friends, colleagues and relatives alike, for "choosing a Thai instead of a local". This claim is so ridiculous that I'm not even going to try and address it with any sort of seriousness - such is the contempt of locals that it defies normal belief sometimes. I guess it stems from the general snobbishness, arrogance and incompetence of the local ruling authorities, but that's another story for another day.

I have only one thing to say about the above - you can take your ugly, snooty, materialistic local girls and shove it up your arse. I'll take a Thai.
