Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
I asked Benz once when we were chatting how much she earns. She said definitely 5 figure and that some others are also earning the same. She wanted to save the money for the future but sometimes will splurge too on handbags and clothes etc.. in the end I guess we (the FL and the cheongsters) are all fools... Shopping malls win all!!

Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
Theoretically, everyone in the economic system will benefit from the increased velocity of money flow. In this case, those that stand to gain from the shopping mall biz will spend their new found prosperity on something else, like travelling or even WLs!

Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
From Bro Ronsee's logic.
Maybe question should be how much you earn each month after paying the fixed commitments vs the number of cheonging session. eg. a bro earns $20K a month but has commitments of $19K, he has $1K to cheong. eg. a bro earns $2k a month but has commitments of $500, he has $1.5K to cheong. ![]() |

Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
This goes way into the economy & financial infrastructure of SGP:
when I was in SG, I'm oso a typical average income employee, only can have classic credit cards, not gold nor platinum ones. I envy those who drive their own cars, go nice restaurants, parties often & branded clothes/stuffs. I did my calculations, I can oso do tat, but will be v tightly stretched, I dun feel comfortable. So no car, seldom go restaurants. While I can still enjoying partying almost every weekend, not so many branded stuffs. I consoled myself, no car, at least, dunnit worry petrol prices, parking charges, ERP etc increase, or kena caught drink driving; I quite like kopi tiam food such as tze char, hor fun, yee min, chicken rice, etc. The $$ saved, can pay for more cheongs. So at least, when frens jio go pubbing / cheong, I can comfortably afford. At 1 point in time, when I was financially quite down, I even worked part-time in pubs on weekends. Then on Sunday evenings, no work in the day or nite, jio some frens go cheong GL cat40 2gether, after tat, go makan some supper at some kopi tiam. Tat seems quite enjoyable too! Work hard throughout the week, then choose a day pamper ourself by having a bonk & then some simple food + drink. Being a quitter & outside SG now (in AsiaPac), my salary had increased several times, in some cities, I'm even being chaffeur-driven. Yet the expenses is much lower than SG!!! Initially, I cheong like there's no 2molo, cos I never enjoyed like tat in SG, couldn't afford tat too. After some time, been there, done tat oredi, rather tired too, sometimes even feel that bonking is a chore, cos bonked 2 much within a short period, energy + "inventory" low oredi. Not long ago, I just reflected back, and came 2 some explanations: - Owning a car is more of a "face" or pride / ego issue. Unless it's really needed 4 work. Whether it's a good-to-have or need-to-have, it depends on individuals' reasoning (or excuses). There are many pple who dun even bother 2 dream of owning a car in their dreams cos it's simply beyond their reach, yet have old folks, pregnant wife, young baby, etc, in their families, life still goes on w/o a car! So, if a gal likes u cos u have a car, & doesn't like u when u dun have a car, can tell tat gal 2 go sell her pussy. When I was in cities like Bangkok, where traffic jams can be really ridiculous, I chose 2 take the metro + public bus (even w/o air-con). I oso chose 2 stay near the metro station, though it's within the vicinity of party / red-light district. While some of my other colleagues chose 2 stay in upper-class villas (rented landed properties, drive nice Toyotas). Only 1 of my other European colleague rode a 100cc motorbike. His wife & 2 young toddler children are there too. Yet, they're often frustrated. They get stuck in traffic jams, can't do anything behind the wheel. While I get 2 wake up later in the mornings, reach office more fresh, got more free time in the evenings (free from traffic jams). I can chose 2 sleep while travelling, or read whatever articles, making better use of my time rather than holding the steering wheel & not moving. I can oso make my appointments punctually. - SG's salary rate is simply crap. Recently, several head hunters are offering me job opportunities in SG, but I'm required 2 take a substantial pay cut. Yet, SG's expenses is so much higher than most other cities in AsiaPac!!! And, SG companies pay 1 employee, but expect this employee to work more 2 or 3 persons' job!! While in many other countries, they'll tell u, leave a job / employment opportunity for other pple! SGPeans are simply squeezed in every aspect of their lives! - The rich has their way of enjoyment, the not-so-rich oso has enjoyable lifestyles. Juz tat I often hear many SGPeans asking for / wanting the "most high-class". - Depends which is higher priority; if u want the pride / ego, then of course pay for it, and likely, gotta sacrifice something else financially (eg, cheonging).

Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
Agree with bros here. Spend within your limit. I used to cheong every week like siao both clubbing & WL & KTV & HC. You name it, I cheong it. But that was like time. Nothing to tie me down. No family, no car, no burden.
Now cannot. Got wife & house liao. Max is cheong 1 week 1 time only & is those not exceeding $150.

Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
well said all bros..
spore is really a "good" place to live in if you look beyond the rising prices of petrol, food, houses, etc..except our salaries.. ![]() i am also a HC cheongster in my early 20s but now become more selective in cheonging liao...hmm come to think of it..if we all bros use the $4 for cheonging and come out with a superfund, maybe we be all rich guys here liao wor.. ![]()

Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
Hey bro, gotta to agree with u that sg is quite terrible for the masses at the moment. My fren just bought a 4 room HDB flat which is close to his parents and it cost him 400k!!And thats is inclusive of all the incentives that the govt dole out!! Goodness me! If u ask an international property consultant now, the mid/low-range property prices in sg is higher than Tokyo now! Taking into account the higher average salary for ppl in Tokyo, the cost of living in sg is indeed flying high. My opinion is that this piece of land is catered for foreigners and locals in the high-income bracket. If u not either, I suggest u move out asap coz frankly speaking, u r not welcome by the reigning govt.

Re: The bonking session vs earning parity discussion thread :)
Bro 84Gunner thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.....I agree Sinkees whether the rich or not so rich like to flaunt their wealth here. Its the sign of being nouveau riche, much like what the Chinese call 爆发户. In European countries they actually frown on conspicuous consumption, my neighbour when I was living in Germany actually took the trouble to tear off the model tag from his brand new AMG E55 to make the car look like the bread & butter Merc. It is consider crass & in low taste to show off but here & most part of SEAsia I notices its the exact opposite. One example was some time back when I met an acquaintance on a plane to HK.....the guy was a rich towkay travelling 1st class & he got this habit of scouting the economy for "preys". So happens that he saw me & he shouted out "Hey bro a rich man like you should be sitting in 1st class where you belong!". I dont know if he was trying to hint that I was stingy or show off or trying to impress the stewardess. I dont feel insulted but instead felt sorry for him that even when he is so rich he is still so insecure. Bottomline rich or not so rich most important must be happy & dont bother much abt what others say.
