Call me dumb, but I just realised Sammyboy isnt Singaporean Chinese. I always thought he was due to his icon pic.

A couple of things I want to say:

1. Singapore and Malaysia- malays, indians, and chinese- there is racism and such from all groups. But you know what? To a white person, you are all the same- ASIAN. That means they look down on all of you equally.


2. Racism in Australia. In my experience, this is how racist Aussies are:

About 60% are not racist and are quite friendly and eay going to people of any race.

30% have varying degrees of racism. But Aussie culture doesnt allow for very overt racism, so it's subtle.

10% are hardcore racists. This figure is from an article from the Sydney Morning Herald in which the results of a research paper was discussed.


I've found that Aussies have a mix of both the friendliest people I've known, and the racist too.

Now some thoughts on Singaporean behaviour:


If you dont personally know any Western expats to ask, I suggest you read expat forums. This will tell you how the behaviour of Singaporeans is generally lowly regarded by the rest of the world. You can even read the sgforums.com to find topics on the same thing.


One thing about Australia is that even though there is discrimination, at least there are laws against it. Thee arent in Singapore

Bro Sam u don't understand at all the enormous pressure a manager is going thru in his line of work. They practically r blamed for almost evrything. When the Big Boss stereotype certain views they hav to follow. Why? if not, they'll be branded as someone who's not 'in the same goal as the others'. Someone who is not part of the gang, someone who can potentially betray the Big Boss-since there's a clash of views and believes. Tat SOMEBODY will soon be framed and disapprove of quite soon. Hence losing his job and his family to starve in due time. When given the option, YOU will also follow those views suggested by the Big Boss/Upper Management. Inorder to prove tat u r part of them, not against them, always keeping track of events/views/agenda.

When the Big Boss says it's profitable to employ CHINAMAN/Malay/Tamil, no one will dare take photo of those newly employed chinaman/malay/tamil sleeping on the job-oni to be reprimanded for lack of managering skills-and VICE VERSA

The Big Boss like to stereotype certain views accordingly to his believe and experiences. Those tat don't really understand him always choose to follow and abide. Afterall, if we r better than him, most probably we will be the one passing down views and agenda. Don't forget, we choose to work there in the first place...to work for HIM; not to work against HIM.

This stereotyping attitude will soon spread downward to the lower management. Everyone will start to imitate the Big Boss, start their own stereotying. And when they stereotyped something, they MAKE SURE it gonna be tat way. Why? If not they will be reprimanded again for poor judgement.

If the Big Boss says discreetly :" Those Chinese nowaday quite troublesome right...." U can be sure tat those Chinese to be start being branded wif filty names damn soon. Why? Carry Balls! Not for our very own survival, but the whole family. U think they'll spelled out BY ORDER OF BIG BOSS? Oni to be blamed for leaking confidential information-not a smart things to do when u r at tat level...

When one Chinese stand in the middle of a big group of Malay/Indian and shout "wah biang eh!!!" u think he won't get it ah? From where i grow up, the Malay/Indian r always most of the time making the Chinese suffer like hell. Even can't eat peacefully at the canteen during "recess time". My street fighting skill r learned fr them (always ganna beaten up and insulted). But i don't hate them. Infact I understand them quite well. Some of them hav the need to express their inferioty thru violence and owning Chinese. Evrytime a Chinese cries after being bullied while the rest of the Chinese jus stoodby and watch, it giv them wad they want to see-tat their race r better. Most of them oppose the notorious act but bor bian hav to participate as a group. Why? if not will be branded as traitor and suffer the same fate. But i don't hate them, I even hav got myself acquintaned wif one of the Malay gal-who's brother is the gangster head, organise group wallaping me whenever they see me. But I survived, wif a healthy mind set even. Whatever don't kill me, makes me much stronger...

Therefore i can oni say, it voice down to individual experience ba... But do remember tat it never involve the whole group/country. Individual wrong doing don't signify the intention of the whole group/country. I can understand their pressure being the minority group in Singapore.

Bottomline, ppl fear, when they don't understand why thing are not what they suppose to be, they blame it on others by finding excuses and reasoning it out using wad's seems to be logical inside their head.

Try this, whenever u feel angry at something, try to convince yourself tat the reason for it if non other then YOU ARE STUPID. Why? bcoz if u know wad's going on, u jolly well won't be angry/frustrated/puzzled/at-lost-end. U'll know exactly wad to do and DO IT-without having to feel pissed off, angry, frustrated and hatred. It's many yrs of cultivation. Some depend on religion to achieve tat state of mind. Others jus need to depend on their life experience. How u look at it, face it and deal wif it build up ur mind's logic processing system. There's much much greatwer wisedom then jus logical thinking. But before tat, anything tat r logical goes into a unsound mind also will come out irrational

Now I have nothing against Australia. My former boss was Australian and he was a delightful chap. Just don't say that Australia is the land of honey and bees and every immigrant is welcomed with opened arms. That reflects some level of naivety or social blindness.

Now I won't say discriminations or certain stereotypes don't exist in Singapore. Far from it. You've perfectly characterized what slurs that are for Singaporeans. It also won't be difficult to find comments about racial subgroups such as Malays being lazy, Indians being smelly etc... Just as you won't find it difficult to hear pejorative terms about blacks, Hispanics, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Arabs all over the world, Australia not withstanding. At least in Singapore there are relatively few violent hate crimes.

There will always be a minority who embody the worst traits and I feel sorry that you seemed to have been the receiving end of some of the abuse, but I think Singapore's official position is clear that overt racism will not be tolerated.

Now I'll admit, my tone has been slightly mocking and perhaps condescending, but hey at the end of the day, I'VE PAID FOR SEX I'm no saint definitely, but you my dear webmaster, could by no stretch of the imagination, be painted in the same light as a pimp so it all boils down to "who are you to judge?"
