It is a new era for Thailand. The late Thai King is very revered & loved by the Thai people. The crown prince whom will ascend the throne after the 1 year mourning period is much less popular compared to his late father. In poll, the Thai princess is more well liked by her people by comparison to her brother. Does that mean the influence of the Royal family will diminish over the Thai government? If that is the case, the current Thai Prime Minister will become the most powerful man in Thailand.

This is indeed 1 great king who really looked after his subjects well. He will be surely miss by all who know and love him. My condolences to the King's family and to his people . May he rest in peace.

Respecting for what? He's dead.... and he's gone.

In any case, monarchy, benign or otherwise, is a dated institution. No better way of governance than democracy -- though even democracy may not prevent poor governance. A good example is the current US elections. Both candidates are deeply flawed.
